Zip Pouch Gitxsan Hand
Designed by Gitxsan artist Michelle Stoney, the Gitxsan Hand Zip Pouch is a powerful work of art created to honor local Residential School survivors. Inspired by a request from local high school teachers, the design features Stigyoden, a sacred mountain in the Gitxsan Nation of Northern British Columbia, placed in the palm of the hand. Surrounding the mountain are flowers known as majagalee, which also means children in the Gitxsan language. The feathers forming the fingers commemorate the children who never returned home, creating a deeply meaningful tribute to remembrance, healing, and resilience. This pouch beautifully combines cultural significance with everyday functionality.
Made from 100% recycled plastic bottles, this Recycled Eco Zip Pouch measures 27cm x 20cm and is ideal for storing cosmetics, stationery, travel essentials, electronics accessories, or daily necessities. Durable, lightweight, and environmentally conscious, it celebrates Indigenous art while supporting sustainable living.
