Tibetan Prayer Wheel

Prayer wheels are use to gather wisdom and good karma and to purify bad karma. It is a cylindrical wheel on a spindle, whish can be made from various materials such as metal or wood. Usually the traditional Om Mani Oadme Hum sanskirt symbols can be found around the outside.

Traditionally, spinning such a wheel is thought to have the same effect as orally reciting the mantra, however focusing the mind and repeating the mantra is more effective. Visualizing mantras revolving around the chakras, especially the crown and heart can be a powerful practice.

Prayer wheels are usually spun clockwise in a gentle rhythem while being mindful of the spirit of compassion.
